How to Get to Serenity from Alajuela

Route Alajuela – Grecia – Sarchi – Naranjo
If you are in the city of Alajuela, the closest to the airport, you should locate the FECOSA terminal. This is the name given to the new bus terminal, where almost all the stops to different parts of Alajuela are located.
On the right side of the main entrance, you will find the buses of the TUAN company, Transportes Unidos Alajuela Naranjo.
This line passes through the city of Grecia, where it makes a 10-minute stop. It then stops in Sarchí and makes its last stop in Naranjo, from where it returns to Alajuela.
The cost of the ticket depends on the destination you indicate to the bus driver. As of July 2025, these would be the prices.
If you go to Grecia, the cost is 900 colones, about a dollar and a half.
If you go to Naranjo, the cost is 1200 colones, about two dollars and 20 cents.
Buses begin departing at 5:00 AM and run until 10:00 PM at half-hour intervals. No advance reservation is necessary.

San José – Grecia Route, San José Naranjo
If you are in San José, the routes to the city of Grecia and to Naranjo are served by different companies. Therefore, the terminals are different.
Buses from San José to Grecia start running at 5:00 a.m. On weekdays, they run every half hour until 10:00 p.m. On weekends, they run every hour.
Buses from the Naranjo terminal also depart from 5:15 a.m. to 10:15 p.m. On weekdays, they depart every half hour, while on weekends they depart every hour.
Both have a fare of 1,400 colones($3 USD) and take about 1 hour and 10 minutes to reach their destination cities. This map will show you where are the terminals in San Jose.
If you are coming from the Pacific coast of Costa Rica, just get off at the Villa Bonita bridge, near the airport. These two lines coming from San José stop there.
If you are coming via Route 27 (famous for its excessive number of tolls), you can get off at La Guacima, take a bus to the city of Alajuela, and this will drop you off a few steps away from the bus to Grecia and Naranjo.

Other Routes
The city of Naranjo has a bus service that connects it with the city of Palmares and another line to San Ramón. These buses run every hour on weekdays and every two hours on weekends.
Grecia, meanwhile, has a service connecting it with the city of San Pedro de Poás.

How to get to Serenity by Nature by bus
To get to our hotel by bus, we recommend arriving in the city of Alajuela, locating the Fecosa terminal, and taking the “Carrillos Bajo” bus. This is important because there is another bus to “Carrillos” that takes a different route. This bus costs about 400 colones (80 cents).
You can get off at the entrance to Calle La Monica and walk north for about 10 minutes. However, we recommend that you get off in the center of the town of Carrillos, near the Rosvil Supermarket. A few steps from that supermarket is the taxi stand, which can be identified by the red vehicles. They may charge you about 2,000 colones ($4) to take you to Serenity.
Uber and Didi services are also available in the area. You may have to wait a few minutes, but drivers are always available during the day.
